The Kwara State Sports Commission has officially commenced its close camp for athletes preparing for the upcoming National Sports Festival, Gateway 2024. At the camp’s opening in Ilorin, Executive Chairman Coach Bola Mogaji emphasized the importance of strategic and effective training in the final buildup to the event.
Addressing coaches, Mogaji stressed that athletes should already be near peak condition, having begun preparations months earlier, and urged that only the most effective techniques be applied at this stage.
He encouraged athletes to focus fully on their training, adhere strictly to camp rules, and maintain discipline. Mogaji also reassured them that their open camp allowances would be paid promptly, with close camp allowances to follow before departure.
Highlighting his experience as a former athlete, Mogaji reiterated his commitment to athlete welfare. He also announced that jerseys, canvas shoes, and ceremonial outfits provided for the festival will be theirs to keep.
Director of Sports, Mallam Ibrahim Bako, also addressed the athletes, urging them to conduct themselves responsibly, follow camp protocols, and report any issues through the proper channels. Roll call was taken by sport as athletes settled into camp.
