Thousands of supporters across Kwara State have declared their support for Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, urging him to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The call came during a massive solidarity rally that commenced at Pake Primary School, Oja-Ipata, and ended at the APC rally ground in Fate, Ilorin. The event drew a large crowd of youths, women, and party loyalists, who expressed confidence in Seriki’s leadership capacity and commitment to youth inclusion.
One of the supporters, Saka Olusola Babatunde from Isin Local Government, said the rally was organized to appeal to the APC stalwart to heed the people’s call.
We have resolved to choose him as our rightful candidate because he is youthfully useful, responsible, and carries everyone along, Babatunde stated.
Dr. Saadat Yusuf, another supporter, said the turnout reflected genuine love for Seriki.
Nobody was forced to attend. Over 80 percent of those here are youths and women. He has always supported their inclusion in governance, she noted.
Convener of the YSK 16 Movement, Comrade Yusuf Amuda, also urged Seriki to join the 2027 race, describing him as a philanthropist and job creator.
He has created employment and sacrificed for Kwara’s development. He’s the only one we trust to lead and represent the interest of young people, he said.
From Kwara South, Kayode Ogunlowo of Irepodun Local Government described Seriki’s endorsement as a recognition of his “consistent contributions to human capital and economic development.”
Similarly, Hajia Awawu Abdulqadi from Kwara North confirmed that all five local governments in the zone had resolved to back Seriki’s ambition, citing his honesty, integrity, and empowerment programs.
Supporters at the rally described Ambassador Seriki as a bridge-builder with a strong grassroots network and a proven record of service, philanthropy, and youth empowerment.
Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari, a former APC governorship aspirant in the 2019 election, was the first to step down for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and later served as the Director General of his campaign organization.
A founding member of the O To Ge movement, Seriki is widely regarded as one of the key figures behind the political transformation that reshaped Kwara’s political landscape.
