AbdulRazaq Appointed Chair of Renewed Hope Ward Programme

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as Chairman of the National Steering Committee for the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP) — a grassroots-focused initiative targeted at boosting economic activities and strengthening social support systems nationwide.

The programme, a key component of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to drive development across Nigeria’s 8,809 political wards by promoting inclusive growth and expanding opportunities in rural communities.

A statement from the NGF Secretariat confirmed that Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, will serve as Vice Chairman of the committee.

Other members appointed to represent the six geopolitical zones include:
North-East: Governor Mai Mala Buni (Yobe)
South-South: Governor Douye Diri (Bayelsa)
South-West: Governor Dapo Abiodun (Ogun)
South-East: Governor Peter Mbah (Enugu)
North-West: Governor Dikko Umar Radda (Katsina)
North-Central: Governor Hyacinth Alia (Benue)

In line with the urgency of its mandate, the committee held its inaugural meeting on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the NGF Secretariat in Abuja, presided over by Governor AbdulRazaq.

The session signaled the formal kick-off of the ward-driven development structure expected to deepen grassroots governance, empower households, and enhance local infrastructure delivery across the federation.
