Barely a month after the Federal Government approved the 42.6km Eiyenkorin–Afon–Ojoku–Offa Road through the Tax Credit Scheme facilitated by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has again approved ₦43 billion for the reconstruction of the Ilorin–Omu Aran–Egbe Road in Kwara State.
The project, which will begin with a 31-kilometre phase out of the total 207-kilometre stretch, was confirmed on Wednesday by the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, while briefing State House correspondents after the FEC meeting.
According to Umahi, the road will be constructed with rigid concrete pavement, designed for durability and long-term sustainability, in line with the Federal Government’s new infrastructure quality standards.
The Ilorin–Omu Aran–Egbe Road serves as a major economic and transportation corridor, linking communities across Kwara South to Okunland in Kogi State. Its reconstruction is expected to ease vehicular movement, boost trade, and enhance socio-economic integration across both states.
This approval adds to the growing list of Federal Government projects secured through the strategic interventions of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has consistently championed partnerships for Kwara’s infrastructural development.
Only weeks earlier, the Governor flagged off the construction of the 15.1km Ojoku–Ilemona Road, further demonstrating his administration’s resolve to open up rural communities and strengthen inter-regional connectivity.
