Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bolaji Ogunmola has expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians, the Ekiti State Government, and concerned individuals for the overwhelming support she received following her recent ordeal with United Nigeria Airlines (UNA).
In a video shared on her Instagram page on Friday, Ogunmola thanked those who reached out to her through calls, messages, and other forms of assistance after she publicly raised concerns over the disruption of her flight.
“Thank you so much to everyone who literally reached out, who sent a message, who called, who sent help. God bless you guys. I’m deeply, deeply thankful,” the actress said.
She specifically acknowledged the intervention of a man she identified as Mr. Wale, as well as officials of the Ekiti State Government, including the ADC, driver, and security personnel who offered her support during the incident.
“Thank you so much, Mr. Wale. Thank you again. Thank you so much, Ekiti State Government, the ADC, the driver and the security. I am so deeply grateful,” she added.
Ogunmola also appreciated bloggers and media platforms for amplifying her complaint, noting that their coverage helped bring public attention to her situation.
Reacting to the airline’s apology, the actress questioned United Nigeria Airlines’ communication process, expressing concern over how passengers could be issued tickets and boarding passes only for flights to be cancelled without clear or timely notice.
“They said they duly communicated, but how do you book tickets and boarding passes for people and then say you’re not flying again?” she queried.
She further alleged that airline officials failed to properly inform her about the cancellation, despite interacting with her at the airport and even taking photographs with her the following day.
Addressing critics who described her reaction as excessive, Ogunmola said she does not enjoy unnecessary stress, adding that the public attention generated by the incident was overwhelming.
The development follows an apology issued by United Nigeria Airlines on Thursday over the disruption of Ogunmola’s Ekiti-bound flight, which reportedly left her stranded at the airport for over 24 hours due to repeated delays and eventual cancellation.
The actress had earlier accused the airline of causing her professional and financial losses, revealing that she invested between ₦15 million and ₦20 million in preparations for her film project, TOC, which was affected by the delays.
In a statement signed by the airline’s Public Relations Officer, Chibuke Uloka, United Nigeria Airlines said the flight was cancelled due to “unscheduled aircraft maintenance,” adding that affected passengers were informed via email and text messages.
The airline stated that flight UN0623, scheduled for January 7, 2026, was disrupted due to technical issues but was reintroduced the following day, January 8, despite the Ekiti–Lagos route not being part of its regular schedule.
UNA further claimed it complied with all Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Consumer Protection Regulations, including passenger care obligations during flight disruptions, and reiterated its commitment to safety, operational excellence, and improved customer service.
While acknowledging the airline’s apology, Ogunmola maintained that clearer communication and better passenger handling are essential to prevent similar incidents in the future.
