Senator Saraki Renews APC Membership, Pays Condolence Visit to Late Ilorin Chief Imam’s Family

Former Minister of State for Transportation and ex-Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Senator Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki, has renewed her membership of the All Progressives Congress by participating in the ongoing party registration and revalidation exercise in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Saraki registered at her Ajikobi Central Ward in Ilorin West Local Government Area on Thursday, urging party members and prospective supporters to take the exercise seriously to strengthen the party’s structure ahead of future political engagements.

Addressing party faithful at the registration centre, she said documented and active membership remains the backbone of the APC’s growth and stability.

“I urge all existing members and intending members to ensure they participate in this registration before the deadline. Active and documented membership is the bedrock of our party’s strength and collective progress,” she said.

Shortly after the registration, the senator paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu (OON), to commiserate with them over the passing of the respected Islamic scholar.

Saraki described the late cleric as a symbol of peace, wisdom and unity, whose influence extended beyond religious boundaries.

“Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu was more than a religious leader. He was a moral compass and a unifying figure whose teachings promoted harmony and spiritual growth across communities. His legacy will remain indelible,” she said.

She also extended her condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, praying that Allah forgives the shortcomings of the late Imam and grants him Aljannah Firdaus.

The senator further prayed for strength and fortitude for the bereaved family, the Ilorin Emirate and the Muslim Ummah to bear the loss.
