Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Thursday met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, following the recent deadly attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
The meeting, held at Aso Villa, focused on security interventions and measures to restore lasting peace in the affected communities after the attack that claimed several lives.
Speaking with State House correspondents after the meeting, AbdulRazaq expressed appreciation to the President for the swift response of the Federal Government, particularly the establishment of Operation Savannah Shield in the area.
He said the deployment of troops under the special operation would significantly help in stabilising the region and preventing further attacks.
The governor noted that the prompt intervention by the President demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the country.
AbdulRazaq had earlier visited Kaiama and Woro communities, where he commiserated with victims, community leaders and the Emir of Kaiama over the tragic incident.
He was accompanied on the visit by security commanders and key members of the state executive council, where he assessed the situation and coordinated immediate humanitarian and security responses.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to working with federal authorities and security agencies to ensure the safety of residents and the restoration of normalcy in the affected communities.
