The G7 stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have denied issuing any apology to party leaders, describing reports of a purported reconciliation as false and misleading.
In a press statement signed by Hon. Issa Raji on behalf of the group, the stakeholders dissociated themselves from a publication claiming that they had regretted their actions and apologised to party authorities.
The group described the report as “false and mischievous,” insisting that no apology was rendered to any individual or self-acclaimed party chairman.
“G7 Ekiti Local Government comprises respected and committed APC stakeholders across the wards. At no time was any apology rendered to any self-acclaimed chairman or individual. Our position remains unchanged, and we stand firmly by the communiqué issued and published across various social media platforms two days ago,” the statement read.
The stakeholders also condemned what they described as continued impunity by the member of the Kwara State House of Assembly representing Ekiti Local Government, accusing him of actions capable of undermining party unity.
According to the group, the alleged unilateral appointment of the lawmaker’s personal assistant as supervisor for the APC e-registration exercise disenfranchised many loyal party members.
They further alleged that ward stakeholders who opposed the lawmaker’s political agenda were being replaced, while party executives were being predetermined ahead of the forthcoming congresses.
The group said such actions were undemocratic and unacceptable, urging party leaders to ensure fairness and transparency in the build-up to the congress.
The G7 stakeholders also rejected what they described as attempts to distort the outcome of a recent stakeholders’ meeting through misleading narratives circulated in some quarters.
They, however, reaffirmed their loyalty to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the leadership of the party in the state, while pledging to continue resisting what they termed abuse of party structures.
