…chairman’s office gulps N391m; N92.5m spent on local, int’l travels
The Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State expended N140 million on security vote and related operations between January and December 2025, budget documents have revealed.
According to data obtained from the council’s 2026 budget and reviewed by Informant247, the security-related spending formed part of the council’s recurrent expenditure for the year under review.
Further analysis of the budget showed that the Office of the Local Government Chairman, which also covers the offices of the Vice Chairman and the Internal Auditor, accounted for a total expenditure of N391,133,669.66 within the same period.

The document also indicated that the council spent N92,521,471.63 on local and international travels between January and December 2025.
The breakdown of the travel expenses and security vote allocations was not immediately available, while council officials had yet to issue an official response to the figures as of press time.
The revelations come amid growing public scrutiny of local government spending and calls for greater transparency and accountability in the management of public funds at the grassroots level.
