Prof Wale Sulaiman Officially declares for Kwara 2027 guber race

World-renowned neurosurgeon and Chairman of the Governing Council, Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, Prof. Wale Sulaiman, has officially declared his interest in contesting the 2027 Kwara State governorship election.

Sulaiman made his intention known on Friday during a stakeholders’ engagement with leaders and executives of the All Progressives Congress in Ajase-Ipo Ward I, held at the Ajase-Ipo Descendants Union Hall.

The declaration, which many party members described as a major development in the state’s political landscape, was received with enthusiasm by party elders, executives and supporters present at the meeting.

Addressing stakeholders, Sulaiman pledged to build on the legacies of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq if elected, promising to consolidate ongoing developmental strides across sectors in the state.

Party leaders and stakeholders at the meeting commended the professor for formally declaring his interest, noting that the move had put to rest speculations about his political ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Some stakeholders from Ajase-Ipo Ward I described him as a distinguished professional with national and international recognition, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead the state and sustain developmental efforts.

The meeting also recorded the presence of several party figures, including former Ifelodun Transition Implementation Committee Chairman, Prince John Jide Asonibare; Owoseni Oladipo, JP; Hon. Taiye Olaniyi; ward executives; youth representatives; and other political stakeholders.

Observers say Sulaiman’s declaration adds momentum to early political alignments ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Kwara State.
