Fire Service recovers lifeless body from river in Ilorin

The Kwara State Fire Service has recovered the lifeless body of an unidentified man from a river along the Osin/Laduba axis in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the fire service said the incident was reported at about 2:42 p.m. by officials of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment, who alerted emergency responders after the body was discovered.

Firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene and successfully retrieved the body of the deceased, estimated to be about 43 years old.

According to the statement, the recovered body was handed over to officials of the Ministry of Environment for necessary procedures, while health workers on ground fumigated the remains and surrounding area to ensure public health and environmental safety.

Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Alabi Muhammed, urged residents to avoid unsafe activities around rivers and other water bodies and to promptly report emergencies to relevant authorities for swift response.

He also emphasised the importance of inter-agency collaboration in safeguarding lives and maintaining public safety across the state.
