Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, Emomotimi Guwor, and 21 lawmakers on Monday officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), signaling a major political shift in the state.
During plenary, Guwor announced he had received 21 letters from members declaring their exit from the PDP, citing unresolved internal crises within the party’s South South Zonal Executive and at the national level. He also submitted his own defection letter.
“With this development, the Delta State House of Assembly is now fully an APC House,” Guwor declared.
The mass defection effectively hands legislative control to the APC and further weakens the PDP’s grip in Delta State, following earlier defections by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
