On Tuesday, 13th May 2025, at about 16:25 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service received a distress call reporting a fire outbreak at No. 50 Umar Alabata Street, Baba Soja, Akerebiata, Ilorin.
The fire crew responded promptly and arrived at the scene without delay. Upon arrival, the firefighters immediately swung into action to prevent further destruction.
The building involved was a block of five (5) room-and-parlour self-contained apartments. Out of the five units, two were affected by the fire.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the cause of the fire was a power surge.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, commiserated with the affected occupants and advised the general public to always observe fire safety precautions to prevent similar incidents.
