It was celebration galore in Igbonna town, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, as Otunba Opeyemi AbdulHafiz was officially installed as the Otunba Bobajiroro of Igbonna by the Onigbonna of Igbonna, Oba Abubakar Adeshola Sholadoye.
The colourful investiture, which coincided with the 10th anniversary of Oba Sholadoye’s reign, attracted dignitaries, traditional rulers, government officials, and community members who gathered to honour both the monarch’s milestone and Otunba Opeyemi’s contributions to the town.
Over the years, Otunba Opeyemi has become a household name in Igbonna, known for his philanthropy, support for vulnerable families, and commitment to community development. His interventions have touched lives across Igbonna and its neighbouring communities, earning him respect and admiration.
In his address, Oba Sholadoye described Otunba Opeyemi as a “quintessential community leader” whose selflessness and dedication to the welfare of his people are exemplary. The monarch urged him to continue on the path of service while offering prayers for his longevity and prosperity.
Responding, Otunba Opeyemi expressed gratitude to the Onigbonna for the honour, promising to redouble his efforts in promoting peace, progress, and development in Igbonna. He also reaffirmed his commitment to uplifting residents, pledging to remain a dependable partner in the town’s growth.
The occasion was graced by prominent personalities, including the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakub Danladi; chairpersons of Moro, Oyun, and Ilorin South Local Governments; the Kwara State Commissioner for Works; as well as friends, family, and well-wishers. Their presence underscored Otunba Opeyemi’s wide influence and the goodwill he enjoys within and outside the community.
The dual celebration not only reinforced the Onigbonna’s decade of impactful leadership but also marked the beginning of a new chapter for Otunba Opeyemi as he assumes his traditional role as the Otunba Bobajiroro of Igbonna.
