Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has charged the newly recruited 2,600 forest guards as he visited their training ground in Ilorin to assess their ongoing tactical and operational preparedness.
The governor’s visit underscores his administration’s commitment to boosting security across the state, especially in communities affected by recent threats. His presence at the training facility was also aimed at lifting the morale of the trainees and reaffirming government’s readiness to restore calm in vulnerable areas.

Instructors at the centre reported steady progress among the recruits, noting that the intensive, hands-on training is equipping them with the skills needed for effective field operations once deployed.
The AbdulRazaq administration has so far recruited and trained over 700 forest guards who are already operating alongside conventional security agencies to strengthen surveillance and disrupt criminal activities.
As the military continues operations to degrade criminal hideouts in ungoverned forests, the new forest guards will complement these efforts by ensuring that reclaimed territories remain inaccessible to bandits and kidnappers. The coordinated strategy, officials say, is aimed at preventing attacks and securing rural communities across the state.
