The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) has arrested 28-year-old Dauda Samuel for impersonating Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Frank Mba, and running a fake police recruitment scam on Facebook.
According to Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Samuel was apprehended following multiple public complaints and credible intelligence. He allegedly created fake Facebook accounts using DIG Mba’s name and photo to deceive Nigerians into paying for non-existent police job offers.
The suspect, arrested in Panda Village, Nasarawa State, has confessed to the crime and is currently aiding police investigations. Authorities are now working to identify his possible accomplices and uncover further digital traces through forensic analysis.
The Police urged the public to remain vigilant against online scams and report suspicious activities promptly.
