In a major security operation, the Nigeria Police Force has neutralized three bandits in Benue State and arrested nine suspected kidnappers in Delta State.
According to Force PRO Muyiwa Adejobi, the Benue operation, carried out on May 3 near Tse-Gondo, followed intelligence on a planned attack by bandits from Shitele and Ukum. A gun battle ensued, resulting in the deaths of three suspects. Weapons including locally-made guns and live cartridges were recovered.
Meanwhile, in Delta, police operatives arrested a notorious car thief, Henry Okpor, recovering a pump-action gun and two suspected stolen vehicles. In separate sting operations, two cultists were nabbed with pistols and ammunition, and nine kidnappers were arrested in Uvwiama forest, Ughelli North LGA. Two kidnapped victims were safely rescued, and a cache of firearms recovered.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the efforts and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intelligence-led, community-driven policing. All suspects will be prosecuted after investigations.
