The Kwara State Government has approved the resumption of academic activities at the Ilesha Baruba campus of the Kwara State University (KWASU), assuring students and staff of adequate security measures.
This was confirmed during an inspection led by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, who expressed satisfaction with the campus infrastructure and commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his investment in tertiary education.
Addressing recent security concerns, Hajia Kawu emphasized that the government is fully committed to ensuring a safe, peaceful environment for learning and has taken concrete steps to reinforce security around the campus and its host community.
She was joined by key government officials, university management, and student representatives, who also visited the Emir of Ilesha Baruba, Prof. Haliru Idris Abubakar. The Emir assured the team of the community’s readiness to host the institution and called on the governor to officially commission the campus.
KWASU Vice Chancellor Prof. Shaykh Luqman Jimoh confirmed that the Faculty of Agriculture is now set to resume after an earlier delay due to safety concerns.
The inspection team also reviewed available facilities to ensure the campus is fully prepared to welcome students back for academic activities.
