At least 23 people have been killed in a wave of coordinated attacks by suspected armed herdsmen and Jukun militants across four Local Government Areas of Benue State—Guma, Logo, Ukum, and Kwande.
Local sources confirmed that nine were killed in Logo, eight in Ukum, and six others in Guma and Kwande combined, all within the last 24 hours.
Dr. Ray Anumve, a resident of Kwande LGA, said the assailants—speaking Fulfulde and Jukun—targeted multiple communities in Turan, leaving behind a trail of deaths, injuries, and displaced residents.
Among the casualties was a farmer identified as Agwei, killed near River Katsina-Ala, while his brother and son sustained serious injuries. Additional attacks were reported in Anwase, Mkomon, and Waya, where victims are currently receiving treatment in Jato-Aka clinics.
The surge in violence has raised fresh concerns over escalating insecurity in Benue and the urgent need for enhanced protection of rural communities.
