The Kwara South Youth Congress (KSYC) has urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to urgently intervene in the worsening state of infrastructure and rising insecurity in Oke-Ero and Ekiti Local Government Areas of the state.
In a press briefing held in Ilorin, KSYC’s Publicity Secretary, Adejare Bashir, decried the deplorable conditions of major roads, especially the Ilofa–Odo-Owa link, which he described as a “sad experience” for residents. He also lamented the poor state of healthcare facilities in Kajola and the surrounding communities, noting that the primary health center in Odo-Owa is near collapse and lacks medical equipment and personnel.
Bashir further highlighted the neglect faced by Idofin-Odo Ashe, Idofin-Odo Aga, and Idofin-Ayekale, where government presence is nearly nonexistent. Schools are non-functional, teachers are lacking, and essential services are missing entirely.
He also pointed to the dire situation in Osi and Araromi—host communities to a campus of Kwara State University—where residents battle daily with inadequate roads, lack of potable water, and unreliable education infrastructure.
Beyond infrastructure, KSYC raised serious security concerns, reporting over 15 kidnapping cases in just one month along the Obbo Ayegunle–Osi expressway. Bashir warned that fear now grips the region, with criminals integrating into local communities.
A recent incident in Ekiti LGA, where a woman and her two children went missing, was cited as further proof of the deteriorating safety of lives and properties in the area.
KSYC called on the Kwara State Government and security agencies to act swiftly and restore peace, infrastructure, and public confidence across the region.
