The Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS) processed 354 “Charting for Confirmation Papers” and 247 Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-Os) in the first quarter of 2025, according to its Executive Chairman, ESV. Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman.
Speaking at the Q1 inter-ministerial press briefing in Ilorin, Sulyman said the charting requests were handled at the Directorate of Survey to help applicants verify land location, size, and survey validity before applying for rights or certificates of occupancy. He noted that 247 C-of-Os were fully processed and are now awaiting the Governor’s approval.
Sulyman credited the agency’s improved efficiency to the ongoing automation reforms introduced by the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration. He emphasized that these reforms have streamlined land management, aligned development with the state’s master plan, and boosted internally generated revenue.
On the urban renewal programme, Sulyman reported that the Directorate of Physical Planning and Development Control reclaimed government setbacks around key institutions and roads. He also confirmed that out of 16 land applications received, 12 certificates were issued after due process.
Additionally, 238 survey reports were processed and forwarded for the approval of statutory rights of occupancy.
Highlighting major land acquisitions, Sulyman announced that 1,057.14 hectares were secured for a large-scale agricultural project in Budo-Alfa (Moro LGA), while over ₦500 million was paid for 2,000 hectares designated for an industrial park along the old Ogbomosho Road. He added that preliminary assessments have begun on land acquired in Oke-Oyi for a planned smart city project.
The KWGIS chairman reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to sustaining digital reforms that support Kwara’s development goals.
