The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) CON, has commended the Kwara State Government for its outstanding efforts in combating drug abuse.
The commendation was made during a courtesy visit by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control to the Chairman’s office, where he presented a compendium of the state government’s activities on drug prevention under the visionary leadership of Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq CON.
According to Marwa, the Kwara State Government’s efforts in drug abuse prevention and control serve as a model for other states to follow. He praised Governor AbdulRazaq’s visionary leadership and commitment to addressing the scourge of drug abuse, describing it as outstanding. The NDLEA Chairman also extended his commendation to Her Excellency, Amb. Prof. Mrs Olufolake AbdulRazaq, the First Lady of Kwara State, for her tireless efforts in supporting the Governor’s initiatives on drug abuse prevention and control. Marwa noted that the First Lady’s involvement has been instrumental in ensuring the success of the state’s drug control programmes.
The meeting, which was attended by top management staff of the NDLEA, highlighted the Kwara State Government’s notable achievements in drug abuse prevention and control. These include the establishment of the Kwara State Drug Abuse Control Committee, launch of the Kwara State Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Strategy, training of over 1,000 stakeholders on drug abuse prevention and control, extensive sensitization programmes on drug abuse prevention and control, and partnership with relevant agencies, including the NDLEA.

The Kwara State Government has the most active Drug Control Committee in Nigeria, with impressive achievements in drug abuse prevention, treatment, and control. The Committee’s effectiveness is attributed to the Governor’s visionary leadership and commitment to addressing the scourge of drug abuse in the State.
“The Kwara State Government’s efforts in drug abuse prevention and control are a shining example for other states to follow. We commend Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq’s visionary leadership and commitment to addressing the scourge of drug abuse,” Marwa said.
The NDLEA Chairman’s commendation is a testament to the Kwara State Government’s commitment to addressing the scourge of drug abuse. It is a model for other states to learn from in combating the scourge of drug abuse in the society.
