The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has strongly denounced a recent protest at its headquarters, labeling the demonstration as politically motivated and orchestrated by non-staff members and sponsored individuals.
In a statement released on Thursday by its Media Team, the FCC clarified that the protesters had no affiliation with the Commission and that the demonstration did not represent the views of its staff or management. The Commission described the incident as a calculated attempt to politicize its operations and tarnish its image.
“The protest was clearly staged by external actors with ulterior motives,” the statement read. “We distance ourselves completely from the actions and intentions of the protesters.”
The FCC used the opportunity to commend its personnel for upholding the agency’s values of transparency, accountability, and meritocracy. It also reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing reforms under the leadership of Executive Chairman, Dr. Muheebah Dankaka.
Highlighting key achievements, the Commission credited Dr. Dankaka with transformative initiatives, including:
• Visionary Leadership: A drive for excellence and institutional integrity.
• Anti-Corruption Drive: Firm stance against corruption and indiscipline within the system.
• Eradication of Job Racketeering: Ensuring merit-based employment practices.
• Improved Staff Welfare: Renovated offices and new facilities commissioned nationwide.
• Training and Capacity Building: Staff empowerment through regular training and field exposure.
• Strict Compliance Monitoring: Rigorous oversight of federal agencies to enforce the Federal Character Principle.
Top FCC Directors echoed praise for Dr. Dankaka’s leadership, citing her steadfast commitment to fairness and compliance.
The statement concluded with the Commission’s full endorsement of Dr. Dankaka, describing her as the “driving force behind the unprecedented transformation of the FCC.”
