Ilorin Durbar 2025: Committee Submits Report, Emir Hails Festival as Historic

The Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee, led by Engr. Yahaya Alapansanpa, the Danmasani of Ilorin, has officially presented the report of the 2025 Ilorin Durbar Festival to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, at the Emir’s Palace.

While receiving the report, the Emir described the 2025 edition of the annual cultural celebration as “highly successful, historic, and eventful.” He praised the festival for showcasing the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and peaceful disposition of the Ilorin Emirate.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari commended the Kwara State Government and the people of the Emirate for their unwavering support, which ensured a peaceful and well-coordinated festival. He also lauded the committee for their dedication, noting that since their inauguration eight years ago, they have remained committed and dependable.

Describing their efforts as a “noble service to humanity,” the Emir offered special prayers for the committee members and urged them to continue projecting Ilorin’s cultural values to the global stage.

In his response, the Committee Chairman, Engr. Alapansanpa, expressed deep gratitude to the Emir for his continuous trust and encouragement. He reaffirmed the committee’s dedication to the success and global promotion of the Durbar Festival.

He also thanked the Kwara State Government for its robust support and acknowledged the critical roles played by security agencies, donor organisations, members of the media, sons and daughters of Ilorin at home and abroad, and all other stakeholders who contributed to the glamour and success of the 2025 Durbar Festival.

The chairman concluded with prayers for the Emir’s continued good health and for sustained peace in the Emirate and the state.

Prominent members of the main organising committee who joined the chairman in presenting the report included: Retired Justice Idris Haroon, former Grand Kadi of Kwara State; Alhaji Abdulmumini Abdulmalik, National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU); Professor AbdulGaniyu Jawondo; Dr. Ahmed Sebutu; Retired AIG Adisa Bolanta; Alhaji Y.O. Ahmed; Barrister Bushra Ayegbami; Alhaji Nurudeen Ibrahim; Alhaji Bolaji Ahmed; Alhaji Yinka Yahaya; Alhaji Tunde Akanbi; and Mohammed Jamiu.
