Preparations are in top gear for the Africa-Asia Drug Prevention Summit 2025, set to hold from October 27 to 29 at the Kenya National Library, Maktaba Kuu Building, Upper Hill, Nairobi.
The event, organised by the Slum Child Foundation in partnership with regional and international stakeholders, will bring together experts, policymakers, and advocates to strengthen cross-regional collaboration on drug prevention and control.
Among the confirmed speakers is Hon. Aileru Olamilekan Mukail, Special Assistant to the Governor of Kwara State on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (Nigeria). Hon. Mukail will speak on government-driven initiatives in drug prevention and control, with Kwara State highlighted as a model for subnational efforts.
Hon. Mukail, a former Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), is widely recognised for his work in drug demand reduction and youth-focused prevention strategies. He has undergone advanced training in drug prevention, counter-terrorism, tactical security, and health & safety in Nigeria, France, and the United States.
As a certified Universal Prevention Curriculum (UPC) practitioner, he has worked with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and other international partners on youth advocacy, human trafficking interventions, and drug prevention campaigns.
Summit organisers said his participation would be “vital to shaping discussions on practical, government-led approaches to drug control and best practices among policymakers.”
The three-day summit is expected to serve as a platform for Africa and Asia to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and promote youth-centered solutions to the global drug problem.
