Kwara Govt to Commission Shea Butter Factory, Completes ICT Hub in Shonga

The Kwara State Government says it has completed several landmark projects aimed at boosting entrepreneurship, innovation, and industrial growth across the state, including a 50-ton Shea Butter Factory in Kaiama and a fully equipped ICT Hub in Shonga.

The Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, disclosed this on Wednesday during the 2025 Q3 Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing in Ilorin.

Adelodun said the Ministry had executed 11 major projects across the three senatorial districts, strategically designed to promote innovation, create jobs, and enhance economic sustainability.

She highlighted the ongoing progress at the Ilorin International Conference Centre, which is 47% completed and expected to be delivered by the first quarter of 2026, while the Kwara Hotel Remodeling Project, now at 71% completion, will also be ready within the same period.

According to her, the Patigi Regatta Motel is 80% completed and will be commissioned before the end of 2025, while the Daada Pottery Facility in Ilorin South is progressing steadily.

The Commissioner further revealed that the Ilorin Innovation Hub—now Nigeria’s largest tech facility—continues to drive enterprise development, while the Kwara Garment Factory and Sugar Film Factory have created new jobs and positioned the state as a growing hub for fashion and entertainment.

She added that the Ministry’s partnership with Kwara State University (KWASU) has led to Nigeria’s first gas-to-electric vehicle conversion project, showcasing the state’s commitment to green technology.

Through its digital literacy initiative, the government has also trained over 5,500 students across 50 public schools, equipping young people with coding and innovation skills.

Adelodun reaffirmed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to economic diversification and youth empowerment, describing the new projects as “pillars of a sustainable, tech-driven, and industrially vibrant Kwara State.”
