▪︎ Dedicates honour to Kwarans, thanks President Tinubu
Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has been honoured with the Integrity Governor of the Year Award by the Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ) in recognition of his inclusive governance, infrastructural strides, and commitment to transparency.
Presenting the award on Tuesday in Ilorin, NACJ President, Dr. Charles Okhai, said the governor was selected after a rigorous assessment process involving four other states, emerging top for his exceptional performance in education, road infrastructure, healthcare, youth empowerment, and transparency.
Dr. Okhai lauded AbdulRazaq’s administration for its consistent attention to workers’ welfare, including regular promotion, prompt payment of salaries, and the transparent recruitment of 8,601 qualified teachers to fill manpower gaps across public schools.
“When we nominated you, we didn’t look at you from a religious angle but based on your sterling performance,” Okhai said, describing the NACJ as a professional body committed to promoting national development. He was accompanied by Mr. Nasir Lawal.
In his remarks, Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to the Association for the recognition, dedicating the award to the people of Kwara State for their unwavering support and confidence in his leadership.
“We take this award as an acknowledgement of our modest efforts to improve the living conditions of our people and deliver political goods to the largest majority,” the governor said.
He noted that the state has continued to perform strongly in peer-review indices on transparency and governance — including independent assessments by the World Bank and other global bodies.
“Beyond the due process and transparency, we have made significant progress in every sector. Our state is better networked in roads and other socioeconomic indices,” AbdulRazaq added.
“No government since 1999 has delivered as many projects in road connectivity, education, health, sports, or tech infrastructure as we have done in the last six years.”
The governor also commended President Bola Tinubu for his continued support to the state, describing the award as motivation to further strengthen inclusive governance and sustainable development in Kwara.
