Kwara State has recorded yet another historic academic victory as its public school students, representing Nigeria, clinched the 2025 Asia Parliamentary International Debate Championship (Junior Secondary Category) in Malaysia. The championship featured participants from 16 countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in an official statement on Sunday, expressed immense joy over the global feat, noting that Team Kwara’s outstanding performance has once again placed Nigeria firmly on the world stage for academic excellence.
“From holding the record of national champion in school debates multiple times, Team Kwara has now triumphed on the international stage,” the Governor said.
“I commend our champions for their brilliance, resilience, and exceptional performance. They have brought honour and pride to Kwara State and Nigeria, and we are truly grateful.”
Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized that the victory reflects the tangible impact of the administration’s sustained investment in basic education.
“This win — and the previous ones — clearly demonstrates that our investments in basic education are making the right impact. We are encouraged to do even more for our learners and the entire education sector,” he added.
The Governor also appreciated the dedication of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB) team led by Prof. Sheu Raheem Adaramaja, alongside the coaches and other stakeholders driving the state’s basic education reforms.
