MOK Foundation Expands Agricultural Footprint, Distributes Food Worth Millions to Kwara Communities

The MOK Foundation has recorded major gains in the agricultural sector, strengthening food security and livelihoods across Kwara State following the acquisition of 500 hectares of farmland in 2024.

The community-based organisation, known for its development-driven interventions, said the large-scale farmland has enabled it to engage in sustained farming activities while supporting vulnerable families with regular food distribution.

Speaking during a review of the foundation’s agricultural interventions, the Executive Director, Mr. Saheed Lawal, said the initiative reflects the foundation’s commitment to empowering local farmers and complementing government efforts in boosting agricultural productivity.

According to him, the foundation provides comprehensive support to farmers operating on the land, including access to farm inputs, coordination, and technical assistance aimed at improving yields and sustainability.

“Since the acquisition of the 500 hectares in 2024, the foundation has recorded significant progress in crop production. Our focus has been on crops that directly address food needs within the communities,” Lawal said.

He disclosed that through a structured quarterly distribution programme, the foundation has been distributing food items worth millions of naira to families facing food insecurity. In 2025 alone, large quantities of cassava and maize harvested from the farmland were shared with residents across different communities in the state.

Lawal noted that beyond food distribution, the initiative has helped stimulate local economic activities, provided temporary and seasonal employment, and enhanced community participation in agriculture.

The agricultural drive, he explained, aligns with the vision of the foundation’s founder, Alhaji Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, whose philosophy centres on transforming lives and improving community wellbeing.

“The goal is simple: to ensure that people have food on their tables and that communities are empowered to thrive. This programme is about dignity, sustainability, and putting smiles on people’s faces,” he added.

The MOK Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its agricultural operations in the coming years, with plans to increase production, deepen partnerships with stakeholders, and reach more beneficiaries across Kwara State.

Through its growing presence in agriculture, the foundation continues to position itself as a key partner in community development, food security, and poverty alleviation in the state.
