AbdulRazaq Flags Off APC E-Registration in Kwara, Urges Inclusiveness and Party Expansion

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Monday flagged off the electronic registration and revalidation of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, urging party officials to ensure that no eligible member or prospective entrant is excluded from the exercise.

Speaking at the APC Stakeholders’ Engagement and the commencement of the e-registration and revalidation exercise in Ilorin, the Governor—who was formally documented as the first registrant—said the process is aimed at strengthening the party, ensuring an accurate membership database, and improving planning ahead of future elections.

“It is important that we know how many of us are members of this exclusive club, which is arguably the biggest party in Africa,” AbdulRazaq said. “We want to know our strength so that we can plan properly, canvass effectively, protect ourselves, and empower our members—without leaving anyone behind.”

He cautioned party officials and registration agents against exclusion, describing the exercise as an opportunity not only to revalidate existing members but also to attract new ones into the party.

“For those tasked with this assignment, do not exclude anyone. Register our members and also go out to canvass for new members. Use the achievements of the party at the federal, state and local government levels to market the APC and expand our base,” the Governor added.

AbdulRazaq said his administration’s record across key sectors—such as education, health, road infrastructure and economic development—has made Kwara State more viable and developed than it was in the past. “The facts speak for themselves across every sector. We have posted sterling performances that are visible in every part of the state,” he said.

He also noted that a valid National Identification Number (NIN) would be required for participation in the e-registration and revalidation process.

The exercise was organised by the Kwara State APC under the leadership of the State Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, and was attended by top party chieftains, federal and state legislators, members of the state executive council, board chairmen and other stakeholders.

In his remarks, Fagbemi said the engagement was convened to assure party members of transparency and fairness in the registration process. He stressed that arrangements had been put in place to ensure no one is marginalised.

“This meeting is to reassure everyone that there is no hanky-panky. The platform is equitable for all, and the necessary structures are in place to make the exercise smooth and inclusive,” he said, while commending the Governor for his achievements across education, health and infrastructure.

Deputy Chief of Staff, Princess Bukola Babalola, called on party leaders and members to work collectively to ensure the success of the exercise, describing it as a shared responsibility.

Chairman of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa, said the e-registration exercise presents an opportunity to strengthen the APC’s membership base ahead of future elections, noting that increased membership would translate into electoral advantage.

State Coordinator for the membership e-registration, Mubarak Bello, outlined the guidelines and operational procedures, explaining that electronic registration would be conducted across the three senatorial districts. He disclosed that 579 registration agents would be deployed across the 193 wards in the state, following the onboarding of senatorial administrators and local government supervisors.

“Only persons with valid National Identification Numbers are eligible. Members with invalid NINs should liaise with registration agents to fast-track revalidation,” Bello said.

Also speaking, Chairman of the APC Elders’ Caucus, Hon. Razaq Lawal, urged party members to mobilise and actively participate in the exercise, describing Governor AbdulRazaq as a reform-minded leader whose development strides deserve continued support from party faithful and residents of the state.

The APC e-registration and revalidation exercise is expected to run across all wards in Kwara State, with party leaders expressing optimism that it will strengthen internal cohesion and expand the party’s support base ahead of the 2027 general elections.
