APC Registers Over 2 Million Members in First Week of E-Registration

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that more than two million members have been digitally registered and verified nationwide, just one week after the commencement of its electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise.

The party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja, describing the development as a strong indication of growing enthusiasm and acceptance of the party’s digital transformation drive.

According to Basiru, the e-registration exercise is designed to lay a solid foundation for a more cohesive, credible and organically structured party capable of mobilising widespread support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“In spite of the fact that many states are yet to commence the exercise at full scale, more than two million Nigerians have already been digitally registered, verified, and captured with their voter registration numbers,” he said.

He expressed optimism that the figure would rise significantly as more states intensify participation in the exercise.

“With increased momentum across the states, we are optimistic that by the next assessment expected next week, the party’s digital membership strength could rise to between eight and nine million,” Basiru added.

The APC scribe called on party leaders, stakeholders and grassroots coordinators across the country to take the e-registration exercise seriously, stressing that accurate membership data is crucial for effective planning, mobilisation and internal democracy.

He commended APC governors, state chairmen and other party leaders for their commitment and the resources deployed so far to ensure the success of the exercise. Basiru noted that initial challenges encountered in some areas were being addressed through continuous engagement with relevant stakeholders.

He further explained that the nationwide e-registration exercise was mandated by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) at its December 2025 meeting, where it was resolved that all APC members across the federation must be digitally registered before the end of January 2026.

Basiru reaffirmed the party’s determination to complete the process within the stipulated timeframe, adding that the exercise would strengthen internal cohesion, enhance transparency and better position the APC ahead of future electoral contests.
