The Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation has expanded its annual WAEC scholarship scheme to cover 300 secondary school students across the three senatorial districts of Kwara State, marking a 50 per cent increase in beneficiaries.
The scholarship distribution ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Offa Grammar School Auditorium, Offa, where students from various public secondary schools across the state received support to cover their WAEC examination fees.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of the foundation, Mr. Saheed Lawal, said the expansion reflects the organisation’s growing commitment to education and youth development in Kwara.

“When this journey began in 2024, we supported 130 students. In 2025, the number increased to 200, and today, 300 students across Kwara State are benefiting from this initiative,” Lawal said.
He added that the steady growth of the programme underscores the vision of the foundation’s founder, Alhaji Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, to ensure that financial challenges do not deny any child access to education.
“Beyond the numbers, today is about hope, encouragement, and giving students the confidence to dream bigger. Education remains the strongest tool for change, and this is our way of investing in the future of our young people,” he said.

The 2026 WAEC Scholarship programme, themed “Continuing the Journey, Lighting the Path to Brighter Futures,” is part of the foundation’s broader educational intervention targeted at underprivileged students in the state.
Delivering a lecture at the event, Mr Aderemi Oladepo, Director of Weakypedia Linchpin Consult and Educational Services, commended the founder for his sustained investment in education, urging the beneficiaries to remain focused and disciplined in their studies.

“If you have a sound education, it will stay with you for life. When I had no other option, education became my lifeline,” Oladepo told the students, while encouraging parents and guardians to provide the necessary guidance and support.
Also speaking, Dr. Azeez Yisa, proprietor of Lens Polytechnic and Lens University, represented by Akeem Dunmoye, urged the beneficiaries to justify the gesture by excelling in their examinations. He thanked Alhaji Kayode for his unwavering commitment to supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Parents, teachers and guardians at the event described the founder of the MOK Foundation as a visionary community leader, praising the consistency and impact of the scholarship programme.
The MOK Foundation WAEC Scholarship is an annual initiative designed to promote access to education, encourage academic excellence and ensure that no willing student in Kwara State is left behind due to financial limitations.
