The Founder of the MOK Foundation and Principal Partner of Luxiar Construction Company, Alhaji Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, has expressed deep sympathy with traders affected by the recent fire outbreak at Owode Market in Offa, Kwara State.
The fire incident, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, razed parts of the goats and sheep sellers’ section of the popular market, destroying over 10 stalls and goods worth millions of naira.

In a condolence message made available to newsmen, Alhaji Kayode described the incident as painful and unfortunate, noting that the destruction of traders’ means of livelihood is a heavy blow to families and the local economy.
“I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate fire outbreak that affected our brothers and sisters at Owode Market. This is a trying moment for the affected traders, many of whom depend solely on the market for survival. On behalf of the MOK Foundation, I extend my heartfelt sympathy to all victims of this disaster,” he said.

He urged the affected traders to remain hopeful and resilient, assuring them of the Foundation’s moral support and solidarity during the difficult period.
Alhaji Kayode also called on relevant government authorities, well-meaning individuals, corporate organisations and philanthropists to come to the aid of the victims by providing urgent relief and support to help them recover from their losses.
While praying for divine comfort and restoration for the traders, the MOK Foundation founder further appealed for improved fire safety measures across major markets in the state to prevent future occurrences.
“Our markets are lifelines of our communities. There is a need for stronger preventive mechanisms, sensitisation on fire safety, and provision of basic firefighting equipment to avert similar tragedies in the future,” he added.
He concluded by reaffirming the MOK Foundation’s commitment to community development and humanitarian support, especially in times of distress.
