A civil society group, Dialogue 365, has criticised Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, over the continued extension of tenure of the Head of Service, Elder Samuel Ayanleye Aina, and the Accountant-General, Rasheed Alabi.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the group’s Convener, Waheed Saka, said the repeated extension of the tenure of the two top officials was affecting morale within the state civil service.
Saka alleged that the development had generated disquiet among civil servants and could impact productivity and commitment to duty.
According to him, Governor Adeleke appointed both officials in 2022 and extended their tenure in 2024, with the current extension expected to end in January 2026.
He claimed there were indications that the governor might extend their tenure again, a move he said could further dampen the morale of workers.
“What Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke is doing in the Osun State Civil Service would demoralise civil servants. Are we saying there are no qualified and competent hands to take over the positions of Head of Service and Accountant-General?” Saka said.
He added that many civil servants were dissatisfied but unable to publicly express their concerns.
The group called on senior citizens and leaders in the state to intervene and advise the governor to reconsider any further extension of the appointments.
