A political support group in Kwara South has commended a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Segun Olaoye, for donating over N3m to strengthen the party’s electronic membership registration exercise across the Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency.
Olaoye, who is the Babalaje of Oro Kingdom and Chairman of the Oluwasegun Olaoye Foundation, reportedly disbursed the funds to support ward agents and coordinators across the 42 wards in the constituency.
According to coordinators of Team Olaoye in the affected local government areas, the financial intervention was targeted at frontline registration officials to address logistics and technical challenges encountered during the exercise.
The Oke-Ero Local Government Coordinator of Team Olaoye said each ward in the area received N100,000 to support registration agents, adding that the gesture contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the exercise.
Similarly, coordinators in Iwo Ward and other units in Isin Local Government expressed appreciation for the support, noting that it helped sustain the momentum of the party’s registration drive.
In Irepodun Local Government, coordinators in Omu-Aran Wards I, II and III, as well as Ipetu/Rore/Aronrin Ward, confirmed the receipt and distribution of the funds, describing the intervention as timely.
Speaking on the development, the General Coordinator of Team Olaoye, Sulaimon Kehinde (Guba), said the donation was aimed at consolidating the APC’s grassroots base in Kwara South ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He noted that strengthening the party’s digital membership database was critical to future mobilisation and electoral success.
Also reacting, the Ekiti Local Government Coordinator of Team Olaoye described Olaoye’s gesture as a reflection of his commitment to grassroots development and party growth.
The intervention covered major communities across the four local governments, including Oro, Omu-Aran and Ajasse Ipo in Irepodun; Iwo, Oke-Onigbin and Alla in Isin; Osi and Obbo-Aiyegunle in Ekiti; and Iloffa, Odo-Owa and Ekan in Oke-Ero.
Chief Olaoye, a prominent grassroots mobiliser, is known for his philanthropic activities through the Oluwasegun Olaoye Foundation, which has intervened in education, water supply and youth empowerment initiatives across Kwara South.
Party stakeholders said the latest donation has further strengthened his standing within the APC in the zone.
