Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) has announced the release of 38 persons abducted during the recent attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Governor said the development was made possible through the “hands-on and unwavering” intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who has personally coordinated efforts to secure the victims’ freedom.
The abductees were released today, November 23.
Governor AbdulRazaq said President Tinubu’s commitment to national security was evident in the decisive steps he took following reports of the breaches in Kwara and Kebbi States. These included cancelling his planned trip to the G20 meeting in South Africa and directing heightened security deployments to the affected areas.
“This successful rescue is wholly due to the hands-on approach of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who led from the front to ensure the safe return of our people,” the Governor said.
AbdulRazaq expressed profound gratitude to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the Nigeria Police Force, which recently deployed four new tactical units to Kwara on the President’s directive.
He also thanked security operatives across all formations, community leaders, religious institutions, and Kwarans for their solidarity throughout the ordeal.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies and ensuring the safety of citizens across the state.
