AbdulRazaq Mourns Ilorin Chief Imam, Describes Death as Huge Loss

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih (OON), describing his passing as a huge loss to Islam and the Ilorin Emirate.

The Chief Imam died on Monday morning in Abuja at the age of 75.

In a condolence message issued on Monday, the governor said the late cleric represented one of the finest generations of Islamic scholarship in Ilorin, noting that his death has left a vacuum in religious leadership across the state.

AbdulRazaq said the late Imam would be remembered for his outstanding scholarship, humility, patience and peaceful disposition, adding that his leadership strengthened unity within the Muslim community.

“The passing of Sheikh Muhammad Bashir is painful and heartbreaking, but it is also a reminder that life is transient and that even great men return to their Creator,” the governor said.

He extended condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Ilorin Emirate Council, the Kwara State Council of Ulamah and the immediate family of the deceased.

AbdulRazaq prayed Allah to forgive the late cleric’s shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and comfort the family and the entire Muslim community.
