Iran rejects UN resolution condemning Gulf attacks, calls move ‘politically motivated’

The United Nations Security Council has adopted a resolution condemning attacks by Iran on countries in the Gulf region and Jordan, urging Tehran to immediately halt hostilities.

The resolution, presented by Bahrain and co-sponsored by 135 member states of the United Nations, was adopted with 13 votes in favour, while Russia and China abstained.

However, Iran rejected the resolution, describing it as one-sided and politically motivated.

In a reaction, Iranian authorities argued that the decision failed to reflect the broader security dynamics in the region and accused the council of bias in addressing tensions in the Gulf.
