MOK Foundation Launches ‘Right to Write’ Pencil Distribution in Offa, Targets 10 Public Primary Schools

In a renewed push to support early childhood education and reduce learning barriers for children, the Foundation for Community Development, popularly known as the MOK Foundation, has launched its Right to Write initiative with the distribution of pencils to pupils across 10 public primary schools in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The foundation, known for its consistent interventions in health, education, and social welfare, began the distribution exercise earlier this week, focusing on children in kindergarten through Primary 3. The exercise, according to the foundation, is a pilot phase that will soon be replicated in other local government areas across the state.

During the outreach, pupils in the following schools received specially branded pencils: St. Cyprian’s LGEA Catholic School I & II, Iyeru Okin Primary School I & II, Ansar-ud-Deen Primary Schools I, II, & III, Bishop Smith LGEA School, St. Mark Primary School I & II, and St. Thomas Primary School I & II.

The Executive Director of the Foundation, Mr. Saheed Temitope Lawal, who led the distribution team, noted that the initiative was conceived by the founder of the foundation, QS. Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK), in response to the challenges many public school pupils face due to lack of basic learning materials.

“At the MOK Foundation, we believe that no child should be denied access to quality education because of financial constraints or lack of simple but essential materials like pencils,” Mr. Lawal said. “This distribution is part of a broader effort to bridge educational inequality and empower our children with the tools they need to learn.”

The pencils were produced by BAMIB Resources and Investments Company, a reputable manufacturer known for educational supplies across Nigeria. Under the leadership of Mr. Ibrahim, BAMIB has earned a strong reputation for partnering with state and federal governments to supply cost-effective, child-friendly learning materials.

Reacting to the gesture, several school heads, teachers, and parents expressed deep appreciation to the foundation for remembering public school pupils who often feel forgotten in society. They described the intervention as “timely and impactful,” especially as many parents struggle to provide school supplies due to the current economic hardship.

A teacher at St. Mark Primary School remarked, “This may seem like a small gesture to some, but to us and these children, it means everything. These pupils now feel seen, supported, and motivated to learn.”

The initiative is part of the foundation’s broader mission to support community development through strategic interventions in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and social welfare. Over the years, the MOK Foundation has consistently delivered on its promise to uplift communities across Kwara State.

Mr. Lawal concluded by reaffirming the foundation’s commitment to ensuring that every child in Kwara has access to the tools they need to succeed in school. “This is just the beginning. We will be expanding this initiative to other parts of the state, ensuring that our message—every child deserves to write their future—is felt in every classroom.”
