PDP South Leaders Agree on Power-Sharing Formula Ahead of Convention

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the South-West, South-East and South-South have reached an agreement on the sharing of positions zoned to the South ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for November in Ibadan.

Under the arrangement, the South-West will produce the National Secretary, National Auditor (NA) and Deputy National Organising Secretary (DNOS).

The South-East is to produce the National Financial Secretary (NFS), Deputy National Secretary (DNS), National Women’s Leader (NWL) and Deputy National Youth Leader (DNYL).

From the South-South will come the Deputy National Chairman (South) (DNC-S), National Publicity Secretary (NPS), Deputy National Treasurer (DNT) and Deputy National Legal Adviser (DNLA).

The agreement was endorsed by Deputy National Chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja; National Vice Chairman (South-East), Chief Ali Odefa; Chairman of the PDP South-South Caretaker Committee, Chief Emmanuel Ogidi; and National Vice Chairman (South-West), Engineer Ajisafe Kamorudeen.

The move follows last month’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, where the party zoned its national chairman’s seat to the North and its 2027 presidential ticket to the South.
