Federal Fire Service Seeks Partnership with Kwara Online Media Practitioners

The Kwara State Command of the Federal Fire Service has expressed its commitment to building a strong partnership with the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) to enhance public safety awareness and effective information dissemination.

This was the highlight of a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, Assistant Superintendent of Fire I (ASF I) Modibbo Ibrahim, to the ASKOMP Chairman, Mr. Salihu Shola Taofeek, who also serves as the Publisher and CEO of The Informant247.

In his remarks, Modibbo praised ASKOMP for its contributions to journalism in Kwara State, stressing that the media plays a vital role in educating the public and shaping narratives.

“Media plays an important role in society, especially in terms of setting agenda. It is very important for us to seek a productive relationship with the media so that we can reach out to a lot of people with our activities,” he said.

The PRO emphasized that the core mandate of the Fire Service is rooted in humanitarian service—protecting lives and property. He noted that beyond showcasing its operations, the Service relies heavily on public sensitization, adding that synergy with the media is key to achieving this.

In response, ASKOMP Chairman, Mr. Salihu Shola Taofeek, commended the new PRO for extending a hand of partnership to the media community. He assured that the Association shares a common goal with the Fire Service in creating awareness and educating the public.

“One of the core principles of the press is to serve the society. I believe this synergy will go a long way in preventing unnecessary fire incidents by educating the public through the media,” he said.

He further pledged the association’s continued support for the Fire Service in all its activities, while highlighting that the collaboration will not only boost public safety but also open avenues for the exchange of ideas that drive societal development.
