Residents of Otte and Budo-Egba in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State erupted in excitement on Monday as Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq inaugurated the newly rehabilitated Otte/Budo-Egba Waterworks — a major project aimed at improving access to clean and safe water.

Speaking at the commissioning, Governor AbdulRazaq, represented by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah, said the 500,000-litre facility reflects his administration’s vision to modernise water infrastructure and ensure reliable water supply across the state.
“This project is about comfort, dignity, and confidence in government. Access to clean water improves health, supports education, and enhances livelihoods,” he said, commending the contractors, community members, and development partners for their support.
The Governor listed other ongoing water projects, including the rehabilitation of Omu-Aran, Oyun, and Sobi waterworks, reiterating that access to clean water remains a fundamental right of every Kwaran.

Several dignitaries, including lawmakers, local government officials, and traditional leaders, attended the event. The Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, urged residents to take ownership of the facility and guard it against vandalism.
Local leaders hailed the project as a life-changing intervention, saying it has ended years of water scarcity in the area.
