Kwara Govt Hands Over New Classrooms, Boreholes to Schools

The Kwara State Government has handed over several newly completed classroom blocks and motorised borehole projects to schools across Ilorin metropolis, as part of its ongoing education revitalisation programme.

At the formal handover ceremonies on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, commissioned new and renovated facilities at schools including Fate-Basin Senior Secondary School, Senior Secondary School Olunlade, Government Day Secondary School Karumo, IMAN Senior Secondary School, and Army Day Secondary School.

The projects comprise modern classroom blocks, office spaces, toilet facilities, and motorised boreholes to enhance hygiene, improve the learning environment, and support science-based education.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Olohungbebe charged school authorities to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities, noting that public infrastructure must be preserved for the benefit of future generations.

He reaffirmed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to continuous investment in the education sector, saying the administration remains focused on creating conducive environments for effective teaching and learning.

In a related development, the Commissioner joined the Ministry’s Monitoring and Anti-Loitering Committee to inspect schools for compliance with punctuality and discipline. He commended teachers who reported early to work and urged others to emulate their commitment to duty.

Olohungbebe also cautioned students against loitering during school hours, urging them to make good use of the improved facilities to enhance their academic performance.
