Woman Drags Ex-Husband to Court Over Fridge, Fans, Inverters in Kaduna

A divorced woman, Oluwasobunmi Opeyemi, has approached an Upper Customary Court sitting along Daura Road in Kaduna, Kaduna State, seeking the recovery of household items from her former husband, Adeyinka Ademola.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Opeyemi told the court that several items belonging to her were still in the custody of her ex-husband despite the dissolution of their marriage. She presented a list of the items to be recovered, which included a refrigerator, freezer, two standing fans, two inverters, two gas cylinders, store gift items, and two beds meant for their children.

During the hearing, Ademola initially objected to the release of the inverters, claiming that he personally purchased them. However, he later had a change of heart and agreed to return all the items listed by his former wife.

“I don’t want to argue. I want us to do this in a respectful manner; she can take everything,” he told the court.

Presiding judge, Patience Musa, subsequently ordered the immediate release of the items. She directed that the packing and handover of the properties be carried out under the supervision of court officials to ensure compliance with the ruling.

The matter was thereafter adjourned, following the court’s directive for prompt enforcement of the order.
