A social media post by Senator Lola Ashiru has stirred political reactions in Kwara State, with observers interpreting it as a subtle critique of the current administration ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
In the post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Ashiru stated that Kwara possesses the land, people, culture, and history needed for development but has “lacked consistent, focused leadership,” adding that he is presenting himself to fill the gap “not with noise, but with results.”
The comment has since generated mixed reactions, with some political watchers suggesting it could be a veiled swipe at the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, even as the senator has yet to formally declare his governorship ambition.

However, the statement also drew criticism from some social media users, who questioned Ashiru’s position given his previous roles in government, asking whether he could distance himself from past leadership structures in the state.
Analysts say the development signals early political maneuvering ahead of 2027, as conversations around succession and zoning continue to shape the state’s political landscape.
