Kwara 2027: Youth Group Backs Femi Sanni, Advocates State Policing

A youth advocacy group, Kwara Youth for Good Governance, has declared support for governorship aspirant, , as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 election in .

The endorsement followed a strategic engagement held in , where the group described Sanni’s agenda as practical and aligned with the aspirations of young people across the state.

Speaking after the meeting, a representative of the group, Abdulrahman from Patigi Local Government Area, said the decision was based on the aspirant’s clarity of purpose and commitment to addressing key challenges facing the state.

During the engagement, Sanni emphasised the need for the establishment of state police as a solution to rising insecurity, noting that a decentralised security framework would enhance intelligence gathering and improve response to threats at the grassroots.

He also commended reforms introduced by in the power sector, stating that decentralisation would unlock economic opportunities, boost small and medium-scale enterprises, and create jobs through improved electricity supply.

On governance, Sanni pledged to uphold transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness, assuring that his administration would prioritise youth engagement and participatory decision-making.

He further unveiled plans to position Kwara as a “conference hub,” aimed at attracting national and international events, boosting tourism, and increasing internally generated revenue.

The group pledged to mobilise grassroots support for the aspirant across all 16 local government areas, urging youths and residents to support leadership driven by competence and integrity as the 2027 governorship race approaches.
