The Federal Government has designated the Jilli axis in Gubio Local Government Area of as a high-risk security zone following a recent counter-terrorism operation by the .
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, , disclosed this in a statement issued in , noting that security advisories had already restricted civilian presence in the area prior to the strike.
According to him, the April 11, 2026 operation conducted under was a precision, intelligence-led mission targeting confirmed terrorist enclaves, and not an indiscriminate attack.
Idris said the Jilli axis, locally referred to as “Kasu Daulaye,” has long served as a hub for insurgent activities, where fighters from and allegedly collect levies, procure supplies, and coordinate attacks.
He added that the operation followed sustained intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, further reinforced by the arrest of a 15-year-old ISWAP courier identified as Tijjani in Ngamdu.
The minister extended condolences to families affected by the incident and sympathised with the injured, stressing that every Nigerian life is valued and any loss of civilian life is deeply regretted.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to tackling insurgency while urging citizens to comply with security advisories in designated high-risk zones.
