The has dismissed claims that it endorsed President for a second term in 2027, describing the report as false and misleading.
In a statement, the party clarified that the alleged endorsement was attributed to , whom it said had been expelled and therefore lacked the authority to speak on its behalf.
“The Labour Party has not taken any decision to support President Tinubu’s second-term ambition. Such a claim is false, unfounded, and should be completely disregarded,” the statement read.
The party stressed that its leadership structure remained intact, adding that only its recognised organs were empowered to take official decisions on political matters.
On its 2023 presidential candidate, , the party said he remained at liberty to pursue his political ambitions on any platform of his choice, while noting that it also had capable aspirants to contest future elections under its banner.
It urged the public to ignore the purported endorsement, describing it as baseless.
The party, which rose to prominence during the 2023 general elections on the back of Obi’s candidacy, has in recent months been embroiled in internal disagreements, with rival factions laying claim to its leadership and positions.
