Offa Robbery: Kwara APC Tells Saraki to Face Court, Dismisses Media Defence

The Kwara State chapter of the (APC) has fired back at former Senate President, , insisting that the courts—not media statements—will determine issues surrounding the 2018 Offa robbery case.

The party made its position known during a press conference on Saturday, reacting to allegations by Saraki and the (PDP) of a purported plot by the state government.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, , the APC described Saraki’s claims as “melodramatic,” urging him to prepare for court proceedings rather than seeking public sympathy.

The party maintained that the charges against Saraki and others are based on existing judicial records and testimonies, stressing that only the court has the authority to determine guilt or innocence.

“Senator Saraki’s denial of links with the murderers is laughable and characteristically deceitful, given the large volume of evidence to the contrary,” the statement said.

It added that testimonies, including those of and , would be tested in court when proceedings commence.

The party also commended Governor for what it described as the courage to pursue the matter, noting that the trial aligns with public demand for accountability.

According to the APC, the responsibility of the state government is to prosecute, while the courts will decide the outcome based on evidence.

The ruling party further contrasted its governance record with the opposition, stating that while critics engage in “media noise,” the AbdulRazaq administration remains focused on infrastructure development, education, and timely payment of salaries and pensions.

It concluded by advising Saraki to reserve his defence for the courtroom, stressing that no individual is above the law and that due process must be allowed to take its course.
