Bandits Abduct Kwara Monarch, Demand N400m Ransom

Suspected terrorists have abducted the traditional ruler of Olayinka community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, , in a midnight attack.

Sources said the gunmen, numbering over 10, stormed the monarch’s residence in the early hours of Saturday, forced their way into the building, and abducted him alongside another resident.

The attackers reportedly led both victims into the bush. However, the second abductee was later tied to a tree after he told the assailants he could no longer continue the journey barefoot.

It was further gathered that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N400 million for the monarch’s release.

The Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, , who visited the community on a sympathy tour, described the incident as disturbing and assured residents of ongoing efforts to rescue the victim.

“We are deeply concerned about this incident, and we are taking swift and decisive action in collaboration with security agencies,” he said.

He added that security operatives, alongside forest guards and local vigilantes, have intensified search operations across surrounding forests and neighbouring communities.

The incident has heightened tension in the area, with residents expressing fears of renewed insecurity in Kwara South and calling for stronger security presence to prevent further attacks.
